What is Tagout?
Tagout Lite is a text message tool for restaurant and hotel managers that fills call outs and open shifts. You text Tagout the shift, it texts every employee with the matching job code, the first person to reply YES gets the shift, and you get a recap.
Does Tagout change my schedule?
No. Tagout Lite never touches your schedule. The recap tells you exactly who to add and who to remove, so you can update your own scheduling program. Reply DONE when it's updated, or Tagout sends you a reminder. Automatic schedule updates are coming in Tagout Premium.
Do my employees need to download an app?
No. Managers and staff use regular text messages on the phone they already have. Employees opt in once by replying YES, and can reply STOP at any time.
Does Tagout work with Toast, 7shifts, or HotSchedules?
Yes. Tagout Lite works alongside any scheduling system, including Toast, 7shifts, HotSchedules, Sling, or a paper schedule, with no integration needed. Direct connections to systems like Toast and 7shifts are planned for Tagout Premium.
How do shift incentives work?
Incentives are optional. When you post a shift you can add a cash bonus, like $25, or a perk, like a free meal or first pick of sections. The incentive is included in the text your staff receive and in your recap.
What happens if more than one employee replies YES?
It depends on the mode you choose. With First YES wins, the first person to reply gets the shift and anyone later gets a friendly heads up. With Manager picks, Tagout collects everyone who says YES and you choose who gets it.
Can I see a history of shift changes?
Yes. Text "history" to Tagout anytime to see every shift that was picked up, who covered for whom, and which changes still need to go on your schedule.
